A PRAYER FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS
Compassionate Lord, we pray for those who have been devastated by
recent natural disasters. We remember those who have lost their lives
so suddenly. We hold in our hearts the families forever changed by
grief and loss. Bring them consolation and comfort. Surround them
with our prayers for strength. Bless those who have survived and heal
their memories of trauma and devastation. May they have the courage
to face the long road of rebuilding ahead.
We ask your blessing on all those who have lost their homes, their belongings,
their livelihoods, their security and their hope. Bless the work of relief
agencies and those providing emergency assistance. May their work
be guided by the grace and strength that comes from You alone.
Help us to respond with generosity in prayer, in assistance, in aid to the
best of our abilities. Keep our hearts focused on the needs of those
affected, even after the crisis is over. We ask this in Jesus' name,
Amen.
Prayers for the Unborn in Danger of Abortion
Prayer for an unborn baby in danger of being aborted, by Venerable Fulton J. Sheen to our Lady of Guadalupe, intercessor for the unborn.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph;
I love you very much,
I beg you to spare the life
of the unborn baby
that I have spiritually adopted;
who is in danger of abortion. Amen.
PRAYER FOR THE ADDICTED
God of mercy, we bless you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministered to all who come to Him. Give your strength to (name of the one I am praying for), who is bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold him/her in your love and restore him/her to freedom through your grace.
Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres.
Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence of the Holy Sacrament. May his life of prayer and penance give (name of the one I am praying for) courage to take up his/her cross and follow in the footsteps of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
V. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R. Who has made heaven and earth.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.
Let us pray.
Lend a willing ear, Lord God, to our prayers, and bless this vehicle with Your holy right hand. Direct Your holy angels to accompany it, that they may free those who ride in it from all dangers, and always guard them. And just as by Your deacon Philip You gave faith and grace to the man of Ethiopia as he sat in his chariot reading the Sacred Word, so, point out to Your servants the way of salvation. Grant that, aided by Your grace, and with their hearts set on good works, they may, after all the joys and sorrows of this journey through life, merit to receive eternal joys, through Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
St. James the Greater Prayer
O glorious Apostle,
St. James, who by reason of thy fervent and generous heart
was chosen by Jesus to be a witness of His glory on Mount Tabor,
and of His agony in Gethsemane;
thou, whose very name is a symbol of warfare and victory:
obtain for us strength and consolation in the unending warfare of this life,
that, having constantly and generously followed Jesus,
we may be victors in the strife and deserve to receive the victor's crown in heaven.
Amen.
(The following prayers to Our Lady are repeated once a day for nine consecutive days):
Behold at your feet, O Mother of Perpetual Help, a wretched sinner who has recourse to you and confides in you. O Mother of Mercy have pity on me.
I hear you called by all, the Refuge and the Hope of sinners; be then, my refuge and my hope.
Assist me, for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth your hand to a miserable fallen creature, who recommends himself to you, and who devotes himself to your service forever. I bless and thank Almighty God, Who in His mercy has given me this confidence in you, which I hold to be a pledge of my eternal salvation.
It is true, dearest Mother, that in the past I have miserably fallen into sin because I had not turned to you. I know that with your help, I shall conquer. I know, too, that you will assist me if I recommend myself to you; but I fear, dear Mother, that in time of danger, I may neglect to call on you, and thus lose my soul. This grace, then, I ask of you with all the fervor of my soul, that, in all the attacks of hell, I may ever have recourse to you.
O Mary help me; O Mother of Perpetual Help, never suffer me to lose my God.
Three Hail Marys
Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke your most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O Purest Mary, O Sweetest Mary, let your name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me whenever I call on you; for, in all my temptations, in all my needs, I shall never cease to call on you, ever repeating your Sacred Name, Mary!
O, what consolation, what sweetness, what confidence, what emotion fills my soul when I utter your Sacred Name, or even only think of you! I thank the Lord for having given you, for my good, so sweet, so powerful, so lovely a name. But I will not be content with merely uttering your name, let my love for you prompt me ever to hail you, Mother of Perpetual Help.
Three Hail Marys
Mother of Perpetual Help, you are the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end, He has made you so powerful, so rich and so bountiful, in order that you may help us in our misery. You are the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to you; come to my aid, dearest Mother, for I recommend myself to you. In your hands, I place my eternal salvation, and to you, I entrust my soul. Count me among your most devoted servants; take me under your protection, and it is enough for me. For, if you protect me, dear Mother, I fear nothing; not from my sins, because you will obtain for me the pardon of them from Jesus your Divine Son. But one thing I fear, that in the hour of temptation, I may through negligence fail to have recourse to you and thus perish miserably.
Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace to have recourse to you and (mention your request), O Mother of Perpetual Help.
Three Hail Marys
Pray for us, O Mother of Perpetual Help, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus Christ who gave us your Holy Mother Mary, whose renowned image we venerate, to be a Mother ever ready to help us, grant, we beseech You, that we who constantly implore her maternal aid may merit to enjoy perpetually the fruits of Your redemption, Who lives and reigns with God forever and ever. Amen.
Novena to the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit Novena is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Jesus himself when he sent his apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the HolySpirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church.
HOLY SPIRIT NOVENA
Dearest Holy Spirit, confiding in Your deep, personal love for me, I am making this novena for the following request, if it be Your Holy Will to grant it:
(mention your request).
Teach me, Divine Spirit, to know and seek my last end; grant me the holy fear of God; grant me true contrition and patience.
Do not let me fall into sin. Give me an increase of faith, hope and charity, and bring forth in my soul all the virtues proper to my state in life.
Make me a faithful disciple of Jesus and an obedient child of the Church. Give me efficacious grace sufficient to keep the Commandments and to receive the Sacraments worthily.
Give me the four Cardinal Virtues, Your Seven Gifts, Your Twelve Fruits.
Raise me to perfection in the state of life to which You have called me and lead me through a happy death to everlasting life.
I ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
THE SEVEN FATIMA PRAYERS
My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You!
O my Jesus, it is for love of You, in reparation for the offences committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for the conversion of poor sinners.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Bring all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy.
O Most Holy Trinity, I adore You! My God, my God,
I love You in the most Blessed Sacrament!
Sweet Heart of Mary, be the salvation of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the whole world.
By your pure and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, obtain the conversion of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the entire world!
O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, truly present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He Himself is o ended. By the in nite merits of His most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of you the conversion of poor sinners.
PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA
O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Queen of the most Holy Rosary, you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love for the recitation of the Rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask, through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer.
NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER
O God, the Creator of all things, You have laid the law of labor upon the human race. Grant, we beseech You, that by the example and protection of St. Joseph we may perform the work You command and attain to the reward that You promise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer to St. Joseph,
Patron of the Universal Church
O Glorious St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, we implore thee to obtain from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the preservation of our remnant Catholic Community and all its members, from all division, dissension, and discord. Do thou, faithful guardian of the Holy Family, grant that our spiritual family – all the members of our remnant Catholic Community – shall ever be united in the bonds of faith and charity, and shall remain always of one heart, mind and soul in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. St. Joseph, special protector of our Community, do thou guide, bless and protect us against the attacks of all our enemies and detractors. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, One God, forever, unto ages of ages. Amen.
LENTEN PRAYER
Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.
Consecration of the Family to the Holy Family
Lord Jesus Christ, Who, being made subject to Mary and Joseph, hallowed domestic life by Your ineffable virtues; grant that we, with the assistance of both, may be taught by the example of Your Holy Family and may attain to its everlasting fellowship; Who lives and reigns with you, world without end. Amen — Roman Missal
Prayer for the Sick
Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. Amen.
Be at Peace
Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life; rather look to them with full hope as they arise. God, whose very own you are,
will deliver you from out of them.
He has kept you hitherto,
and He will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it,
God will bury you in his arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and everyday.
He will either shield you from suffering,
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination. Amen.

St. Francis de Sales
PRAYER TO ST. JUDE
O Holy St Jude!
Apostle and Martyr,
great in virtue and rich in miracles,
near kinsman of Jesus Christ,
faithful intercessor for all who invoke you,
special patron in time of need;
to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart,
and humbly beg you,
to whom God has given such great power,
to come to my assistance;
help me now in my urgent need and grant my earnest petition.
I will never forget thy graces and favors you obtain for me
and I will do my utmost to spread devotion to you. Amen.
St. Jude, pray for us and all who honor thee and invoke thy aid.
(Say 3 Our Father's, 3 Hail Mary’s, and 3 Glory Be’s after this.)
Note that in addition to saying a prayer to St. Jude, we can invoke his aid by offering Holy Masses and Communions in his honor. We can also engage in charitable works in his name.
As St. Leo once said “Prayer has the greatest efficacy to obtain favors from God when it is supported by works of mercy.” Don’t forget to help someone in need as part of your prayer to St. Jude.
THE FIFTEEN PROMISES OF MARY TO THOSE WHO PRAY THE ROSARY
Perhaps you have heard the story of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s 15 promises for those who pray it regularly. It was reported that when the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Dominic and gave him the Rosary devotion, she also gave him these 15 promises of spiritual benefits for those who pray it.
At least that’s the story. However, some historians have pointed out since the 17th century that there’s no hard evidence of this story prior to the 15th century, when it was popularized by Bl. Alanus de Rupe. But, it is possible that he might have had a source that has since been lost to us.
In any case, it is important to note that even if these promises were given by the Blessed Mother to St. Dominic, they would still fall into the category of “private revelation,” or something that’s not a part of public divine revelation and that Catholics are not obliged to believe. Either way, these promises could still be taken as inspiration for praying the Rosary.
1) Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces. (signs sent by God to help us make the right decisions in life)
2) I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.
3) The rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4) It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the heart of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5) The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary shall not perish.
6) Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7) Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8) Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have, during their life and at their death, the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
9) I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.
10) The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.
11) You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.
12) All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13) I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
14) All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.
15) Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.
Prayer For Our Animal Friends
Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is a wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of yours. They have trust in us as we have trust in You; We are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have. |
( Here mention the names of the animals needing prayer )
Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our petitions through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures.
PRAYER FOR PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES
Let us pray . . .
O Lord our God, in your mercy and kindness, no thought of ours is left unnoticed, no desire or concern ignored.
You have proven that blessings abound when we fall on our knees in prayer,
and so we turn to you in our hour of need.
Surrounded by violence and
cries for justice, we hear your voice telling us what is required . . .
“Only to do justice and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God” (Mi 6:8).
Fill us with your mercy so that we, in turn, may be merciful to others.
Strip away pride, suspicion, and racism
so that we may seek peace and justice in our communities.
Strengthen our hearts so that they beat only to the rhythm of your holy will.
Flood our path with your light as we walk humbly toward a future filled with encounter and unity.
Be with us, O Lord, in our efforts, for only by the prompting of your grace can we progress toward virtue.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER IN EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS
Let us faithfully recite this prayer in the Exaltation of the Holy Cross :
Jesus, Who because of Thy burning Love for us willed to be crucified
and to shed Thy Most Precious Blood
for the Redemption and Salvation of our souls,
look down upon us and grant the petition we humbly ask for
(our prayer intention here...)
Lord we trust completely in Thy Mercy.
Cleanse us from sin by Thy Grace,
sanctify our work,
give us and all those who are dear to us our daily bread,
lighten the burden of our sufferings,
bless our families,
and grant to the nations,
so sorely afflicted,
Thy Peace, which is the only True Peace,
so that by obeying Thy Commandments
we may come at last to the Glory of Heaven. Amen
RADIATING CHRIST
Mother Teresa prayed this daily with her sisters.
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others.
